95 I t is conveniently called wat Chimpli and was formerly named Wat Pa Fai. It is located near Ladkret canal to the south of Wat Porramaiyikkawas. It was built in the Ayutthaya period. It is said that King Rama II renovated this temple and renamed it as Wat Chimpli after his former name, Prince Chim. The highlight of the temple is the beauty of the Ayutthaya-influenced main hall and pagoda. This temple is considered one of the most beautiful temples in Nonthaburi. The main hall is a five-room hall with double roofs which have a slope in the middle, making it resemble to a junk ship. The tympanum of the main hall is created to follow the style of Wat Suthat Thepwararam’s in Bangkok but is relatively small. The crown-shaped gate is called “Soom Na nang” which is one of the most beautiful cement gates among the temple gates in Pakkret. To the north of the main hall, there is a big pagoda on twelve wooden recesses surrounded by four small pagodas.
