 PAKKRET Travel Guide Pakkret is one of the districts in Nonthaburi Province. Historically, Nonthaburi was once part of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The population at that time consisted of people of various ethnic backgrounds, including Thai, Chinese, Mon, Malay, and Muslim communities. Notably, Thai people of Malay and Mon descent migrated to Nonthaburi during the Ayutthaya and Thonburi periods, as documented in the Gazetteer of Thailand. Pakkret has long been home to a significant Mon community. The area was traditionally known for its fruit orchards, particularly durian and tangerine plantations, often intercropped with other fruits. Another well-known local craft is pottery, a skill passed down through generations of Mon artisans who settled in Thailand during the Thonburi and early Rattanakosin periods. Today, the eastern side of the Chao Phraya River in Pakkret is administered by the Pakkret City Municipality, covering five sub- districts: Pakkret , Bang Phut, Bang Talad, Khlong Kluea, and Ban Mai. Much of the traditional orchards have now transformed into residential areas and industrial zones, making this part of Pakkret feel almost like an extension of Bangkok itself.
