PAKKRET Travel Guide Formerly known as Wat Bang Phang, this temple is located along the Chao Phraya River, where the riverbank has long been eroded by strong currents. The temple dates back to the late Ayutthaya period and was originally affiliated with the Mon Buddhist sect. One of its most revered figures is Luang Pho Chaeng of Wat Bang Phang, a famous monk during the World War II era, whose statue draws worshippers seeking blessings and good fortune. Inside the ordination hall are mural paintings depicting episodes from the Buddha’s past lives based on Mon beliefs.
