 PAKKRET Travel Guide Wat Hong Thong is a temple established by Thai-Mon descendants, dating back to the late Ayutthaya period. One of its distinctive features is the elegant swan (Hong), often seen atop poles and structures. For the Mon people, the swan is a symbol of purity and spiritual excellence, and it is frequently found in Mon temples across Thailand as a tribute to the ancient Mon capital of Hongsawadi, a symbol treasured for over 2,500 years.
