 PAKKRET Travel Guide Formerly known as Wat Lao, Wat Pho Ban Oi is believed to have been built by Lao settlers, as it was located within the Ban Lao community. The temple dates back to the Ayutthaya period but was abandoned after the Burmese invasion. Following King Taksin the Great’s successful expulsion of the Burmese and the establishment of Thonburi as the capital, villagers restored the temple, and it has since remained an active monastery.
