 PAKKRET Travel Guide Formerly known asWat SanamNon Ramun or Wat Sanam Chai, Wat Sanam Nuea is located along the Lat Ko Kret waterway and is believed to date back to the Ayutthaya period. The temple was abandoned following the fall of Ayutthaya and later restored when Mon immigrants sought refuge during the reign of King Taksin the Great. The temple features distinctive religious architecture reflecting the local way of life. Key highlights include the Phra Sri Chulamani Chedi, a twelve-cornered pagoda built in 1886 and set in the middle of a pond, the temple’s art museum, and the unique Phra Phuttha Pang Tabae (Hair Relic posture) Buddha image one of only three of its kind in Thailand, estimated to be around 400 years old.
