67 ห ากต้องการพักผ่อนหย่อนใจ ที่มี บรรยากาศดี และมีทัศนียภาพ แม่น�้ำสวยงาม สิ่งแรกหากนั่งเรือ ผ่านวัดโพธิ์บ้านอ้อยจะได้เห็นคือ พระพุทธรูปปาง ลีลาศิลปะอยุธยา ประดิษฐานบนดอกบัวปูนปั้นริม แม่น�้ำเจ้าพระยา ซึ่งเป็นพระพุทธรูปองค์ที่มีพุทธ สรีระอ่อนช้อยงดงามมาก วัดนี้ตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น�้ำ เจ้าพระยาฝั่งตะวันออก ต�ำบลบางพูด เดิมเรียก “วัดลาว” อยู่เขตชุมชนบ้านลาว บริเวณดังกล่าว ได้รับร่มเงาต้นโพธิ์ใหญ่ จึงเรียก “วัดโพธิ์” เพื่อไม่ ให้ซ�้ำจึงน�ำค�ำสร้อยมาต่อ โดยได้ค�ำว่า “บ้านอ้อย” เดิมพื้นที่แถบนี้มีการปลูกอ้อยจ�ำนวนมาก และ สมเด็จพระสังฆราชเจ้ากรมหลวงวชินวรสิริวัฒน์ได้ ประทานนามว่า “วัดโพธิ์บ้านอ้อย” I f you want to relax and enjoy the beauty of riverside scenery, do not miss a trip to Wat Bodhi Ban Oi. The first thing to see when travelling past the temple is a Ayutthaya-styled walking Buddha, standing on a lotus base on Chao Phraya Riverbank. The Buddha is a delicate statue that has beautiful proportions. The temple is situated on the East side of the river in Bang Pood subdistrict. The temple was once called “Wat Lao” because it is located in Ban Lao area. The area is covered by the shade of big Bodhi trees. So, the temple was called “Wat Bodhi”. In order to avoid possible confusion, the locals put the suffix “Ban oi” to the name because the area is a sugarcane plantation (Oi means sugarcane). Therefore, the temple was renamed “Wat Bodhi Ban Oi”.
