43 T ourists may enjoy themselves by travelling around and making merit by going in a Chao Phraya cruise to visit Wat Chong Lom. The temple has been an important place for Thai-Mon Buddhists for a long time. The temple provides great riverside scenery. It is located near Nonthaburi Bridge, also known as Nuan Chawee Bridge, is Ban Mai sub district, Pakkret Municipality, Nonthaburi province. Wat Chong Lom is believed to be constructed in Ayutthaya Period. It was formerly known as “Wat Chang Lom” because an elephant died here (Chang Lom). The legend says a war elephant of King U Thong died while crossing a canal (now, the canal dries up but still shows the trace). The name has changed slightly overtime from “Chang Lom” to “Chong Lom”.
