pakkret happiness
In the past, the Chao Phraya River and many canals were a major route of Pak Kret transportation. On both sides along the watercourse were a continuous line of gardens and houses In 1947 (B.E. 2490), Tambon administration in Nonthaburi encountered certain changes; Tambon Pak Kret was divided to form Tambon Bang Talat; similar subdivision also occurred to Tambon Bang Pood, Bang Tanai and Om Kret to form Tambon Baan Mai and Khlong Phra Udom respectively. Afterwards, Tambon Om Kret was subject to further division to form Tambon Bang Plub accordingly. The district office was subsequently relocated to a new location on Jangwattana Road for convenience in delivering public service. Subsequently, on January 10, 1989 (B.E. 2532), the areas on the east side of Tambon Pak Kret were divided to form Tambon Khlong Kluea. From that time, Pak Kret District has been subdivided into 12 sub-districts (Tambon). Due to population growth, Pak Kret District was promoted in 1955 (B.E. 2498) to be a sanitary district, covering 36.04 square kilometer including all areas along the east side of the Chao Phraya River composed of 5 sub- districts (34 villages). Because Pak Kret was a suburban of Bangkok, the community expanded at a fast pace; agricultural land was transformed into residence. After being a sanitary district for 36 years and 4 months, it was promoted in 1992 (B.E. 2535) to be Tambon Pak Kret Municipality as specified in the Decree on the Establishment of Tambon Pak Kret Municipality, Pak Kret District, and Nonthaburi, which was declared in the government gazette Book.108 Part.245, signed on December 31, 1991 (B.E. 2534) and officially effective from the date of January 1, 1992 (B.E. 2535). 3 years later, Pak Kret was promoted to be Muang Pak Kret Municipality as specified in the Decree on the Establishment of Muang Pak Kret Municipality, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi, which was declared in the government gazette Book.112 Part.32 a., signed on August 8, 1995 (B.E. 2538) and officially effective from the date of February 5, 1996 (B.E. 2539). Due to the prosperity, population growth, and increasing revenue collected for local development, Muang Pak Kret Municipality satisfied the Ministry of Interior’s criteria in changing its administrative status to Pak Kret City Municipality as specified in the Decree on the Establishment of Pak Kret City Municipality, Nonthaburi, which was declared in the government gazette Vol.117 Part.10 a., signed on February 20, 2000 (B.E. 2543) and officially effective from the date of April 20, 2000 (B.E. 2543) .
