Our Lady of Mercy Church… the Warmth in God’s Hands Originally, Our Lady of Mercy Church was established on February 13, 1972. With the six-rai land donation from Meenanon family (Mr. Sanom and Mrs. Lawan Meenanon) and additional one- million- baht financial contribution from Mrs. Sud Praditjusin, the Catholic Church has been originated as a holy and gathering place for spiritual relief, Christianity teachings, and educational activities. Father Boonlert Tharachat, Saint Francis Xavier Church, of Samsean branch, was responsible for the construction during that period. On 16 February, 1974, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously presided over the royal consecration ceremony for the grand opening, signed his name on the holy stone plate which is now enshrined in the church. Consequently, he anointed and sprinkled the sacred water onto the stone plate located in front of the church and planted a Bakula tree and Saraphi (a tropical tree with small white flowers).
