Food offering at the end of Buddhist lent here in Wat Chonlaprathan with a crowd of Buddhists flocking from all directions It is stated that religion and its principles symbolize alluring flowers of sweet fragrance that draw people towards the common good. We, on the other hand, perform a role of a gardener who nourishes and retain the flowers in guardianship. Hence, both mutually fulfill each other’s obligation. Without the presence of religious beliefs and its people, there is no completion. Pak Kret City Municipality has an abundance of great temples, churches, morgues, and shrines. Pak Kret is, therefore, a charming city full of faith and holiness. Temples…. A Treasure of Buddhism Temples are a sacred religious place. In addition to its religious significance, the temples are a place or building dedicated to worship, a dwelling of deities and monks, and a sacrosanct area binding all Buddhists together. A brief description of temples located in Pak Kret is provided below. 1. Wat Chonlaprathan Rangsarit Located at Moo1, Bang Talat district, Nonthaburi, the temple was built in 1959 by the Royal Irrigation Department. Due to the demand for an inventory port at the west side of the Chao Phraya River which had already been occupied by Wat Na Bost and Wat Cheng Tha, the Royal Irrigation Department therefore asked for a permission to exchange the land with a committee of high ranking monks and then offered a construction of Ubosot and a dwelling place for monks as a compensation for land exchange. After the construction was successfully completed, Phra Thep Wisutthi Methi (Panya Nandha Bhikku) was invited to be an abbot and the temple was named as “Wat Chonlaprathan” which means the temple that was established by the Royal Irrigation Department. There is a giant Ubosot with stucco design in the temple compound and inside contains a main Buddha image designed by a well-known artist named Professor Sin Pirasri. His work includes a Buddha image in the hall for sermons. Parents love to send their children to be ordained here because the temple primarily promotes the teaching of Lord Buddha. According to the former abbot, Buddha’s teachings and practice are a great treasure for all Buddhist people. The temple is open for public on weekends. »Ò¡à¡Ãç´ ¹¤ÃáË‹§ÈÃÑ·¸Ò The City Of Happiness 58
